Toothpaste

Tooth brushing is one of the most important preventive requirements for good oral health. When looking for a toothpaste for your child, make sure to pick one that is recommended by the American Dental Association as shown on the box and tube. These toothpastes have undergone testing to insure they are safe to use.

Additionally, toothpastes that are 100% natural and do not contain any artificial preservatives, dyes or saccharine are healthiest for your child.

Remember, children should spit out toothpaste after brushing to avoid ingesting excess fluoride. If too much fluoride is ingested, a condition known as fluorosis can occur. Discuss with your dentist if you are concerned about fluoride and ingestion. When in doubt use fluoride free toothpaste for young children under the age of 3.
